Social security contributions are on track to reach a new all-time high of 45% of gross wages by the end of the current legislative term if the new federal government does not implement structural reforms to the social security systems. Due to their widely divergent fundamental positions, the coalition partners, the CDU/CSU and the SPD, have decided to delegate the design of relevant policy measures to special commissions rather than finalizing them during the coalition negotiations.
